Keep it simple with tomato and lettuce on the classic sandwich or try one of the beefed up seasonal features.

Nathan Detroit's Sandwich Pad
This family-run sandwich shop has been pumping out deli classics in Winnipeg Square for the lunch crowd since the late 70s. Nathan Detroit’s Sandwich Pad makes a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel the way it should be: served open face, thickly layered with cream cheese and generously topped with coral-coloured salmon slices. The bagel itself is just as important, and Nathan Detroit’s are top-notch, sourced daily from Gunn’s Bakery. Get it toasted and top it with fresh tomato slices, lettuce and red onion.

Viva, a cozy gem in the city’s eclectic West End, serves classic Vietnamese cuisine like the popular street food, bánh mì, a small baguette sandwich. Their juicy, charbroiled pork version made with snap-fresh vegetables, mayo and a hit of cilantro reigns supreme. White Star Diner
White Star Diner, a family-run biz, is an ode to the Titanic, decorating its walls with memorabilia of early 20th century ocean liners. Its long menu of diner classics includes awesome burgers, fully loaded poutine and of course, sandwiches. We’re big fans of the grilled cheese sandwich with juicy pulled pork. Gooey cheddar and mozzarella melt between saucy pork shreds, and buttery toasted City Bread rye adds satisfying crispness to each bite. Decadent and delicious.
