La Cantatrice Chauve (The Bald Soprano), an anti-play, and La Leçon (The Lesson), a comic drama, are two short works from the 1950s by avant-garde Romanian-French playwright Eugène Ionesco, who was influential in the Theatre of the Absurd. Ionesco plays with language to expose the delicious absurdity of words and physical states.
