When graphic designer Ty Johnston moved to Winnipeg he fell in love with all that it had to offer, particularly his neighbourhood stomping ground the Exchange District. After stumbling upon an old 1954 photo of downtown Winnipeg at Portage and Main he was inspired to design the “Great City” print, emphasizing how the roads are like veins leading to the heart of the city. He pairs the visual with a quote by Aristotle stating, “A great city is not to be confounded with a populous one,” believing Winnipeg should not gain its value by comparison to Canada’s bigger cities.
These prints can be found exclusively at Tiny Feast, a few blocks away from City Press where they are printed.
