Handel’s Messiah

The CMU Festival Chorus joins the WSO for its annual holiday performance.

Christmas is a time for carols and choirs, and one of Winnipeg’s most marvelous choral traditions is the annual performance of Handel’s Messiah by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. This revered musical work by George Frideric Handel was first performed in Dublin, Ireland, during an Easter service in 1742. Since then, it has been performed in various arrangements and contexts all over the world, finding its place in Christmas repertoire.

The WSO has been performing this timeless classic, in whole or in part, since incorporation in 1948, bringing together some of the city’s most talented musicians and vocalists for one spectacular spectacle. It just wouldn’t be Christmas without the resounding Hallelujah chorus ringing in the season at the Centennial Concert Hall.

Show starts at 7:30 pm. Call 204-949-3999 or visit wso.ca for tickets.
