THIN AIR 2019 Winnipeg International Writers Festival

Wordsmiths from around the globe gather at THIN AIR 2019 Winnipeg International Writers Festival.

Compelling conversations, intriguing ideas and lively readings take place across the city during the THIN AIR 2019 Winnipeg International Writers Festival. More than sixty writers from all over Canada (including more than twenty Manitobans) share their new books. From brilliant debuts to revised histories, from thrillers to food books, a feast of ideas awaits.

The event begins on Sunday, September 22, with a day exploring Indigenous writing, including Talking Reconciliation at McNally Robinson Booksellers, followed by a mosaic of Winnipeg voices at Oodena Circle and a showcase by spoken word artist Shane Koyczan at MTYP. All week long: Afternoon Book Chats and Boot Camps for Writers at McNally Robinson Booksellers, The Nooner and Big Ideas series at the Millennium Library, and of course the signature Mainstage evenings at MTYP.

Closing out this year’s events, internationally-acclaimed Canadian author Margaret Atwood launches her much-anticipated novel The Testaments at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre to a sold-out audience.

Many events are free. Mainstage tickets are $12 and Mainstage Passes are $35 each, available at McNally Robinson Booksellers. Check the THIN AIR website for other ticket information.
