Winnipeg’s first restaurant with an electric refrigerator was called Electric Lunch No. 2 and, through the 1920s, served lunch specials from the prime location of Fortune Block on Main. The restaurant’s receipts, uncovered during renovations, inspired new tenant Modern Electric Lunch in both its name and its menu, which offers quirky updates on diner classics, like the savoury bacon-infused waffle dipped in a smoked Gouda sauce.
