At Sugar Blooms and Cakes, Mother-daughter duo Genevieve and Nikki Melegrito are whipping up traditional Filipino confections. Since opening in August 2016, this McPhillips St bakery has earned a faithful following, specializing in Filipino cakes such as ube macapuno , made with purple yam and coconut preserves. Other tempting treats include sans rival, a dessert of buttercream, and chewy meringue, garnished with almonds and cashews.
